2004 Boys Team 1 - 2013 Heart of York Tournament Champions!
The Aurora Stingers U9 Boys participated in Newmarket's Heart of York tournament over the August 10 - 11 weekend. They started off with a 2-2 tie vs. Richmond Hill Green, but found their footing in the second game -- a 7-1 victory over Sporting FC. They finished the first day with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Vaughan Azzurri. Carrying the momentum into Sunday morning, they closed out the round-robin in first place overall, with solid 9-1 win over Richmond Hill White. This earned them a re-match with Vaughan Azzurri in the championship match. The boys came out strong and took an early 2 goal lead and never looked back. The held off Vaughan throughout the second half, to win the game 2-0 and take their second consecutive tournament championship this season.
Congratulations Boys!

2003 Boys Team 2 - 2013 Heart of York Tournament Champions!
During the August 10, 2013 week-end, our boys took part in the HOY tournament, hosted by our neighbours to the north. Our boys were grouped in a tough group with some strong opponents to compete with. Our goal on Saturday was to play for Sunday (to advance to the semi-final) while having fun and giving their all in terms of effort, determination, team-work and skill.
Our first game was against Newmarket Team 1. It was a tough battle all along from which our Stingers came out with a 1:0 victory. The next game was against Pickering where Aurora prevailed with the same score, 1:0.
Saturday afternoon ,we were up against Kleinburg where our opponents needed to win by two goals to advance and knock us out of the tournament. Since we played them three days before (4:4 tie) in the league game, our boys knew that this was their hardest game to play, to close out the round robin. It was a see-saw battle all along. Our boys never gave up and finished with a 3:3tie, thereby winning the group.
On semi-final Sunday we were up against a strong, fast and skilled Markham team. The game finished with a tie and Aurora advanced in penalty kicks, 4:3.
In the final, our Stingers were dealt the same Pickering team that we already faced in the round robin. It was a great, entertaining game in spite there were no goals scored during regulation and extra time.
In the penalty shoot-out, our Stingers were down 3:1 with only one Aurora player left to keep us alive. With fortune on our side and great goaltending, our boys never gave up and took the championship in the 8th round of penalty kicks.
Congratulations Boys, we are very proud of you!
