2002 Boys Win Brossard Challenge in Montreal

(August 5, 2015) AYSC 2002 REP Boys, coached by Fabio Trinchini, travelled to the Montreal, Quebec on August 1-2 to compete in the Brossard Challenge Tournament. The tournament included top-tier local Quebec and international teams. Playing in the AA division, with many close and evenly balanced games, turned out to be very competitive and challenging games, but the boys team work, perseverance and desire to win helped carry them to victory.

It was a terrific display from our Stingers, who went undefeated in the tournament, before coming out on the winning end with a 4-2 final against a local Academy Team. Overall, it was truly an outstanding performance by our Stingers who put on a determined and impressive display, emerging as champions after taking the final game by a score of 4-2.

Congratulations to our 2002 REP Boys on their impressive performance!

(Aug. 3, 2014) - Following their first-ever CGSL victory, the U18 Girls B team headed to the Muskoka Cottage Classic Tournament in Huntsville. After securing top spot in their round robin pool with a pair of 1-0 victories, the girls headed into Sunday’s matches with a depleted 12 player roster.

In the semi-final, a 1-0 victory over Huntsville secured a spot in the final.

Vying for the crown, the girls dug deep and pulled out their fourth 1-0 victory of the tournament to clinch the title over a previously undefeated team from Collingwood. The only measure of difference between the two teams was a well-struck second half free kick.

Congratulations girls and to paraphrase Queen, “You Are The Champions”!

Ending regulation play 0-0, Aurora won the Final in penalty kicks, with three out of four Aurora shooters scoring, while Aurora’s keeper was able to stop three of Pickering’s five attempts from the penalty spot.

U11 Girls Team 2 - 2013 Sudbury Tournament Champions

U11 Girls Team 2 - 2013 Sudbury Tournament Champions!
It was a case of “third time lucky” in 2013 for the AYSC girls of 2002.   Following two heart-breaking 1-0 defeats in the Finals of the Frank Sobil Oshawa Tournament in May and the Can-Am Aurora Tournament in June, the 2002 Girls Team 2 emerged as Champions of the Sudbury Impact Tournament, held July 27-28, 2013.

Following an undefeated record during round robin play, in which Aurora allowed only one goal against, the girls went on to defeat nearby Barrie by a score of 4-0 in the tournament Final.

The girls overcame the challenge of playing on smaller fields than they are accustomed to.  By the end of the tournament, the girls managed to adapt their passing and possession game to control the Final from beginning to end.

Awesome play girls, you continue to make Aurora proud!

Congratulations to the 2002 Boys Team 1, Champions of the 2013 Thornhill Challenge Cup on the August 17/18 weekend!
The boys played 4 games on Saturday to advance to the Sunday quarter finals and a win over the Vaughan Vipers.  Playing with injuries and without a full complement, the boys were able to shut out Markham in the semis and advance to the finals against Waterloo United.  This brought a re-match of the 0-0 draw from round robin play.  Waterloo scored first but that was all Aurora would concede as our boys came back strong with 3 unanswered goals and a weekend record of 5-1-1 with 16GF and 5GA.
