U13 Boys Team 1 - Takes Home the Robbie!
Competing in a field of 24 teams, the U13 Boys Team 1 went undefeated winning all 6 games with an impressive 24 goals for and only allowing 4 against. The championship game was a thriller with Aurora capturing the title with a hard fought 3 -2 victory over Mt. Hamilton.
It was a hot and humid weekend in Toronto with both teams playing their 6th game in 3 days. Mt. Hamilton opened the scoring with a goal in the first 10 minutes. Aurora battled back with a goal scored by Cameron Searles off a corner kick. This gave Aurora momentum with Cameron Wright finding the back of the net and giving Aurora the 2 -1 lead going into half time.
The second half had both teams creating great scoring opportunities with near misses. Mt. Hamilton equalized with a quickly taken free kick which set up their striker for a breakaway. The striker made no mistake, Mt. Hamilton even with Aurora 2 -2.
With 15 minutes left, Nick Trewern struck a cracking strike into the top corner which left the Mt. Hamilton keeper helpless. Aurora went up 3-2. This forced Mt. Hamilton to push forward looking for the equalizer and trying to take the final into extra time. With less than a minute to play, the Mt. Hamilton striker broke free into the clear with a marvellous strike which appeared labelled for the low right corner. However, Jared Brown the keeper for Aurora made a full stretched finger tip save to deny Mt. Hamilton.
Final 3 - 2 Aurora. The 45th annual Robbie U13 Champions!!!! Coach Gus Menna would like to congratulate all his players on their hard work and endless effort on capturing this title.
Congratulations Stingers!!!
