Aurora Youth Soccer Club former player Szymon Tolwinski (pictured) made his first trip down south with his new club, Toronto FC Academy, and won the Generation adidas Cup, a 7v7 tournament for all U12 Major League Soccer Academy teams, held in Dallas, Texas. Tolwinski was selected to join TFC Academy at the beginning of the year after playing with the AYSC for the past three seasons.
Tolwinski was joined in Dallas by AYSC Female Youth Director Gianni Cimini. Cimini, who also serves as the U12 Head Coach with TFC Academy, guided the squad to an undefeated record beating FC Dallas in the final. The duo will travel with the TFC Academy to compete in a 7v7 tournament in Arousa, Spain next month, where they will play against European clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona.
"It's great to see Szymon and Gianni successful at this elite level with the TFC Academy," said AYSC Technical Director Dave Diplacido.
The AYSC is fortunate to have Cimini involved with our female program and proud of Szymon and his success with our local professional team. AYSC will continue to support Toronto FC, as well as the players and coaches who make the jump to the next level. Congratulations to Toronto FC Academy and well done to Szymon and Gianni.

(March 17, 2015) Aurora, ON - The Aurora Youth Soccer Club is pleased to announce that 1996 Girls standout-goalkeeper Deanna Persico has signed a National Letter-of-Intent with Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), a NCAA Division I school in Teaneck, New Jersey.
"As soon as I got on campus, it just felt right," said Deanna about the FDU program. "The school is in a great location, the soccer facilities are really nice, and the academic programs that are being offered are a perfect fit for me to study in chemistry."
Deanna started her soccer career with the AYSC at the age of four and entered the competitive stream at eight years old with the Stingers. She played most of her competitive years with the Aurora Youth Soccer Club, with brief stints at the Vaughan Soccer Club and the North Mississauga Soccer Club. She has played in several college showcase tournaments such as Disney Showcase, Orange Classic, CASL and Umbro.
Deanna will play under FDU Head Coach Eric Teepe and will be one of only two keepers on the roster, so the opportunity to play as a freshman is quite attainable. FDU posted an overall record of 14-5-1 and a 6-1-1 record, playing in the Northeastern Conference.
