Steve Dempsey Earns Recognition, U10G Black Team Donates Gifts

The Aurora Youth Soccer Club's U10 Girls Black Head Coach Steve Dempsey was awarded $1,000 dollars from Bank of Montreal, in recognition of his commitment during the 2015 season. One of Dempsey's players entered a short essay contest run by BMO and won the competition. She wrote a compelling piece detailing his excellent coaching abilities and his commitment to the team on and off the field.

Upon receiving the award, Steve decided the money won would be best served by giving back to the community. The team met at Toys R Us, where they all picked gifts that will be given to the children receiving treatment in the paediatric ward at Southlake hospital in Newmarket.

Congratulations Coach Dempsey!

AYSC Announces New Club Motto

On Friday, July 31, the Aurora Youth Soccer Club announced the new Club motto - One Style, One Passion.

After opening a contest to all AYSC members in early May, submissions were collected until June 22. The selection committee carefully reviewed all entries and collectively selected the new Club motto.

"We would like to thank everyone who participated in the contest," said Executive Director Jimmy Brennan. "Our Club was looking for a fresh, inspiring motto to get the entire club united. We all represent the same club and we strongly feel the new motto represents us as a group."

"The 'One Style' represents our technical side," Brennan continues. "Our technical director Dave and his entire staff strive to play a free-flowing attacking style of soccer from our grassroots programs right through to our high-performance OPDL (Ontario Player Development League) teams. 'One Passion' is obvious, our passion for the game of soccer, which unites our Club."
