AYSC Appoints Jimmy Brennan Executive Director

(March 13, 2015) - The Aurora Youth Soccer Club is pleased to announce that Jimmy Brennan has been named Executive Director. Jimmy has 21 years of experience in the game on and off the field as a player, First Team Coach, Academy Coach and Assistant General Manager.

"With Jimmy's vast connections in the football world both at the professional level as well as at the Canada/USA University levels, Aurora Youth Soccer Club will have the ability to set up direct pathways for our children's futures," said AYSC President Spencer Kanen.

Jimmy's soccer credentials allow him to understand the landscape of Canadian soccer on and off the field and add a different and fresh perspective to the AYSC. He will guide the club to advance and produce competitive and successful players and coaches both on and off of the field. Jimmy also knows and understands the challenges for soccer players as he has lived through all obstacles that the game presents at all ages.

"He is well respected in the world of soccer and we are extremely lucky to have a local individual giving back to the community by joining our team," Kanen continued. "The Aurora Youth Soccer Club has made a tremendous step forward in order to complete our goal of being one of the most ambitious youth clubs in the country."

As a player, Jimmy spent 16 years professionally in both England and Canada, notably with two-time European Cup winning club Nottingham Forest. He represented Canada at all levels and won the 2000 Gold Cup, 2002 Gold Cup bronze medal and played in the Confederations Cup against Brazil, Cameroon and hosts Japan. He also played in the U-17 World Cup against Argentina, Australia and Nigeria. He played in the English Premier League with Norwich City FC as well as Southampton FC, Bristol City FC and Toronto FC.

Jimmy was the first signing and club captain of Toronto FC, where he was a part of the club for seven years. He was a 2008 Major League Soccer All-Star, Humanitarian of the Year, Player of the year, Fans player of the year and Defender of the year.

Working under of some great managers and players such as Joe Jordan (ex-Man United, AC Milan and Scotland player), Russell Osman (ex-England and Ipswich town player), David Platt ( ex-Arsenal, Sampdoria and England player), Tony Pulis (Stoke City, Crystal Palace and West Brom Manager), Jimmy brings invaluable experience to the AYSC. Jimmy holds a USSF A licence, UEFA B licence and currently is enrolled for his UEFA A license at the Football Association of Ireland.He was also on the management team at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, where he held the role of Assistant General Manager for the Toronto FC.
