About the OPDL
In 2013, the Aurora Youth Soccer Club (AYSC) became one of 18 clubs licensed by the OSA for the inaugural 2014 OPDL season. The addition of this elite player development program coupled with our Gold certification for Club Excellence from the OSA, demonstrates our commitment to help guide players to achieve their optimal potential.
For more information on the OPDL, please visit the website at www.theopdl.com.
The OPDL is Canada Soccer's first standards-based youth high performance league that combines top level competition with strict performance-driven training standards. The AYSC's player-centric philosophy of play strives to develop each player to their full potential, within the LTPD guidelines.
During the 2014 season, the AYSC players were put to the test with the player identification process facilitated by the OSA. We had nine players called in to the final Regional Training Centre Identification weekend in Ontario, with three players selected to join the Ontario Regional Excel Program (REX) on a full-time basis in 2015.
Looking ahead to the 2014-15 season, the AYSC will have four teams in the league (2001/2002 boys and girls).
The AYSC plays in the Western Conference, with games slated from Ottawa to London.
In each successive year, OPDL will add an age group. The licensing cycle for organizations wishing to operate an OPDL program is every two years. The transition to the OPDL's will be phased in as follows:
