U14 Boys Team 1 - West Niagara Tournament Champions
With much anticipation, a new coach at the helm and a winter filled with training, the U14 boys took to the fields for the West Niagara Tournament this past weekend. The boys started with a quick goal against league rivals Islington and played a solid game ending with a 2-0 score. A subsequent 0-0 tie against OYSL side Oakville and 2-1 win against Guelph Royals put the boys through to the Semi’s in first place in their division. Playing another league rival, Toronto SC, in the Semi’s the boys thoroughly out chanced their opponents but could not find the back of the net. Ending regulation tied at zero’s, the dreaded penalty shoot out would declare a winner. A calmly slotted shot to the top corner by Josh DaSilva put the U14s deservedly through to the Finals, where a rematch with Islington rangers loomed. In the Finals the U14s found themselves trailing for the first time in the tournament but not just by a single marker but by two at half time. Responding to coach Phil D’elia’s urging and a deft change in the formation the boys rallied with thoroughly dominating second half potting a goal by Duncan Allen and two by Brady Reil to carry home their first championship of the season. Other scorers in the tournament were Christian Carano and Joshua Dasilva.
Congratulations Stingers!!!
