Welcome Players, Coaches and Supporters
It is my pleasure to welcome over 2,200 participants to our 16th annual John Traganitis tournament. The focus of our tournament is to provide the right level of competition in an atmosphere of fun and fairness.
The tournament is run in memory of John Traganitis, a long-time supporter of soccer in Aurora. John passed away unexpectedly in 1994 and the following summer, the AYSC hosted the first tournament to honor his memory. John spent countless hours developing the sport of soccer in Aurora and York Region and I am proud to continue that tradition.
This year, over 135 teams will compete in various fields around our town. Please enjoy the excellent facilities provided by the Town of Aurora and drop by the main tournament center at Sheppard's Bush on Industrial Parkway. The Optimist's Club of Aurora will provide a BBQ and you can check on the status of your division or other teams from your club.
This tournament is organized by volunteers of the Aurora Youth Soccer Club. Field marshals are volunteer student who have information about services in the city including places to eat, field locations and walk in clinics. Should they not be able to answer your questions, please have them contact the tournament headquarters where your questions will be answered quickly.
We hope you enjoy your stay here in our town. This tournament brings approximately 4,000 visitors here and we want you all to have great memories. On the pitch remember to respect your opponents, respect yourselves and respect the officials! Cheer for great plays regardless of the team and enjoy your experience here in Aurora.
