Aurora, ON (October 26, 2021) - Aurora FC is pleased to announce our affiliation with Simcoe County Rovers FC, who will be fielding teams in League1 Ontario for both the Men's and Women’s Divisions for the 2022 season. AFC previously held their League1 license for the past 5 years before transferring the license to The Rovers.
Technical Director Dave DiPlacido commented on the partnership:
“We are very excited to work alongside Julian de Guzman and the Simcoe County Rovers staff as we continue to offer our top players a pathway into League1 Ontario. This will allow us to focus more time and resources into other areas of the club, strengthening our youth programsâ€.
This partnership will continue to offer our competitive teams a great opportunity for both player and coach pathway growth. Aurora FC will continue to be the brand & operate League1 Reserve Men’s and Women’s teams as players graduate from youth soccer to the next playing level.
President and Managing Partner, Julian de Guzman - Canada’s most capped senior men’s player and the first Canadian to play in Spain’s La Liga - will be leading an ownership group that includes CEO Peter Raco and co-owners Cyle Larin (Current Canadian International) and Will Devellis, who are focused on delivering exciting football to the region.
